"Holland Tunnel Gallery Celebrates 25 Years" Exhibition

  • Holland Tunnel Gallery Newburgh NY 12550 USA (map)

This year, it was 25 years ago that the Holland Tunnel opened in the Autumn of ‘97, in an 8’ by 10’ Home Depot garden shed in the backyard of Paulien Lethen’s home in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

It was a pristine little space meant to house her plants for the winter and she decided to invite her artist friends to join her in showing works for an Open Studios weekend in Williamsburg that November. It was a great success and people said “keep it as a gallery” which she did. For the first planned exhibition after that the plants and art shared the space, and it was called “Enchanted Forest”.

25 years later and Holland Tunnel has had a life in the Williamsburg space, added years in the Paros Greece space and now finds itself in the Hudson Valley with our Holland Tunnel Newburgh Gallery.

Join us as we celebrate a quarter century with an exhibition that includes artists from the first steps of Holland Tunnel in that small backyard shed now showing current work in our large Newburgh Gallery.
